Maya Angelou - American autobiographer and poet, professor

Maya Angelou is one of the American autobiographer and poet who has been called "America's most visible black female autobiographer" by scholar Joanne M. Braxton. She is well known for her series of six autobiographical volumes, which focus on her childhood and early on adult experiences. The first and most greatly acclaimed, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969), tells of her first seventeen years. It brought her international respect, and was nominated for a National Book Award. She has been awarded over 30 honorary degree and was selected for a Pulitzer Prize for her 1971 volume of poetry, Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'Fore I Diiie.

Angelou was a member of the Harlem Writers Guild in the late 1950s, was active in the Civil Rights movement, and served as Northern Coordinator of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Southern Christian Leadership Conference. A Tony Award nomination for her position in the 1973 play Look Away, and three Grammys for her spoken word albums. In 1995, Angelou's publishing company, Bantam Books, known her for having the longest running record on The New York Times Paperback factual Bestseller List. In 1998, she was induct into the National Women's Hall of Fame. She has provide on two presidential committees, and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2000 and the Lincoln Medal in 2008. Musician Ben Harper has privileged Angelou with his song "I'll Rise", which include words from her poem, "And Still I Rise." She has been awarded above thirty honorary degrees.

George Carlin was an American stand-up comedian, actor, social critic, and author, who won five Grammy Awards for his comedy albums. Carlin was famous for his black humor as well as his thoughts on politics, the English language, psychology, religion, and different taboo subjects. Carlin and his "Seven Dirty Words" comedy custom were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a narrow 5–4 decision by the justices avowed the government's power to regulate indecent material on the public airwaves. The first of his 14 standup comedy special for HBO was film in 1977.

In the 1990s and 2000s, Carlin's routines listening carefully on the flaws in modern-day America. He often comment on modern political issues in the United States and satirized the excesses of American culture. His last HBO special, it’s bad for Ya, was film smaller than four months before his death. In 2004, Carlin positioned second on the Comedy Central list of the 100 greatest stand-up comedians of all time, in front of Lenny Bruce and behind Richard Pryor. He was a frequent artist and guest host on The Tonight Show during the three decade Johnny Carson era, and hosted the first event of Saturday Night Live. In 2008, he was prize the Mark Twain prize for American humor.

Woody Allen is an American screenwriter, actor, director, comedian, jazz musician, author, and playwright. He’s characteristic films, which run the gamut from dramas to screwball sex comedies, have made him a famous American director. He is also illustrious by his rapid rate of production and his very large body of work. Allen writes and directs his movies and has also acted in the mass of them. For inspiration, Allen draw greatly on literature, sexuality, philosophy, psychology, Jewish identity, and the history of cinema, among a wealth of other fields of interest.

Allen developed fervor for music early on and is a celebrated jazz clarinetist. What began as a teenage avocation has led to usual public performances at various small venues in his hometown of Manhattan, with irregular appearances at various jazz festivals. Allen joined the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the New Orleans Funeral Ragtime Orchestra in presentation that provided the film score for his 1973 comedy Sleeper, and performed in a rare European tour in 1996, which became the topic of the documentary Wild Man Blues.

Julia Child - chef, television celebrity and author

Julia Child was an American chef, television celebrity and author. She is known for introducing French cuisine to the American public with her entrance cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and her succeeding television programs, the most famous of which was The French Chef, which premiered in 1963. Child joined the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) after result that she was too tall to join in the Women's Army Corps (WACs) or in the U.S. Navy through the WAVES. Child began her OSS occupation as a typist at its headquarters in Washington. The three would be authors originally signed a contract with publisher Houghton Mifflin, which later discarded the manuscript for seeming too much like an encyclopedia.

In initial published in 1961 by Alfred A. Knopf, the 734-page Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Child was a preferred of audiences from the moment of her television debut on public television in 1963, and she was a recognizable part of American culture and the subject of numerous position. On August 18, 2004, a documentary filmed through her lifetime premiered. Julia Child died of kidney failure at her aid living home in Montecito, two days before her 92nd birthday. Child ended her final book My Life in France with”.
