Oscar De La Hoya

Oscar De La Hoya is an retired American boxer of Mexican descent. He got a gold medal at the Barcelona Olympic Games. He comes from a boxing family. His grandfather Vicente, father Joel Sr., and brother Joel Jr. were every boxers. De La Hoya was The Ring's "Fighter of the Year" in 1995 and Ring Magazine's top rate Pound for Pound boxer in the world in 1997 & 1998. De La Hoya officially publicize his retirement from the sport at a press conference held in Los Angeles on April 14, 2009, thus ending any speculation of a possible match-up with undefeated junior middleweight, Julio César Chavez Jr, the elder son of Julio Cesar Chavez.

De La Hoya has defeated 17 world champions and has won 10 world titles in six dissimilar weight classes. He has also make more money than any other boxer in the history of the sport, an estimated $696 million pay-per-view income. De La Hoya founded Golden Boy Promotions, a fight sport promotional firm. He is the first American of Hispanic fall to own a national boxing promotional firm and one of the few boxers to take on promotional responsibilities while still active. The joy of victory was tempered by the news that his mother, Cecilia, was fatally ill with breast cancer. She died in October 1990, expressing the expect that her son would one day become an Olympic gold medalist.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bean Bryant is an American professional basketball player who plays shooting protector in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Los Angeles Lakers. He decided to declare his eligibility for the NBA Draft upon graduation, and was chosen with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. He was awarded the regular season's Most Valuable Player Award (MVP). After losing in the 2008 NBA Finals, Bryant led the Lakers to two successive championships in 2009 and 2010, and was named NBA Finals MVP on both occasions.

In 2010, Bryant became the all-time foremost scorer in Lakers franchise history. He is a twelve-time member of the All-NBA team and ten-time All-Defensive team. In 2008, he won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics as an affiliate of the USA national team. Bryant was named NBA player of the decade by TNT and Sporting News. In 2003, Bryant was charge of sexual assault at a hotel in Edwards, Colorado, by a hotel employee. Bryant admitted an adulterous sexual encounter with the accuser, but without the sexual assault allegation. In September 2004, prosecutors dropped the case after his accuser conversant them that she was unwilling to testify.

George Washington was served as the first legal President of the United States, and he was an commander of the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1783. His role in the revolt and subsequent freedom and formation of the United States was significant, and is seen by Americans as the "Father of Our Country". Washington avoided war and maintained a decade of peace with Britain upon sign the Jay Treaty in 1795, despite strong opposition from the Jeffersonians. He was awarded the primary Congressional Gold Medal with the Thanks of Congress in 1776.

Rosa Parks

Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was born February 4, 1913. He was an African American civil rights activist, whom the U.S. Congress later called "the first lady of civil rights", and "the mother of the freedom movement". Parks' act of defiance became a main symbol of the modern Civil Rights Movement and Parks became an international icon of resistance to racial segregation. She organized and collaborated with civil rights leaders, including boycott leader Martin Luther King, Jr., serving to launch him to national prominence in the civil rights movement.

Parks was secretary of the Montgomery section of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and had recently attended the Highlander Folk School, a Tennessee center for workers' rights and racial parity. Nonetheless, she takes her action as a private citizen "tired of giving in". Although broadly honored in later years for her action, she suffered for it, lose her job as a seamstress in a local department store. Eventually, she moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she found comparable work. From 1965 to 1988 she serves as secretary and receptionist to African-American U.S.

Representative John Conyers. After retirement from this position, she wrote an autobiography and lived a mostly private life in Detroit. In her final years she suffered from dementia and became concerned in a lawsuit filed on her behalf next to American hip-hop duo OutKast. Parks finally received many honors ranging from the 1979 Spingarn Medal to the Congressional Gold Medal, a posthumous statue in the United States Capitol's National Statuary Hall. Her death in October 24, 2005 was a major story in the United States' leading newspapers. She was granted the posthumous honor of lying in state at the Capitol Rotunda.

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali was born January 17, 1942. He is a former American boxer and three-time World Heavyweight Champion, who is broadly considered one of the greatest heavyweight championship boxers of all time. As an amateur, he won a gold medal in the light heavyweight partition at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. After turning specialized, he went on to become the first boxer to win the lineal heavyweight championship three times.

Originally known as Cassius Clay, Ali changed his name after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964, then converting to Sunni Islam in 1975 and more recently to Sufism. In 1967, Ali refused to be inducted into the U.S. military based on his religious attitude and opposition to the Vietnam War. He was arrested and found responsible on draft evasion charges, nude of his boxing title, and his boxing license was suspended. He was not locked up, but did not fight again for nearly four years while his request worked its way up to the U.S. Supreme Court, where it was successful.

Nicknamed "The Greatest", Ali was involved in many historic boxing matches. Notable among these are three with rival Joe Frazier and one with George Foreman, whom he beat by hit to win the world heavyweight title for the second time. He suffer only five wounded with no draws in his career, while amassing 56 wins. Ali was well known for his unorthodox fighting style, which he describe as "float similar to a butterfly, sting like a bee", and employing techniques such as the rope-a-dope. He was also known for his pre-match hype, where he would "trash talk" opponent on television and in person some time before the match, often with rhyme.
